The third largest mosque in the world, hosting the largest woven persian carpet in the world. The complex is built over an area of around 40,000 square metres. five minarets stand symbolising the five pillars of Islam. in 1992 (Islamic year 1412 hijri) the Sultan issued instructions to build the mosque. It wasn't completed until 2001! FREE admission, Visiting hours for non-Muslim sightsee'rs are restricted according to days, prayer times & Islamic festivals. DRESS CODE: women-cover your hair and dress in loose long sleeved/ankle covering clothes. men- T-shirts are fine, don't wear shorts.
